Islamabad: Jazz, a major digital operator in Pakistan, has announced the provision of free on-net and PTCL calls for its subscribers in the flood-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This measure is intended to facilitate communication for residents in regions severely impacted by recent heavy rains and flash floods.

The affected districts, including Buner, Swat, Shangla, Dir, and Chitral, have seen significant damage to roads, homes, and essential infrastructure. By eliminating call charges, Jazz aims to alleviate one concern for residents as they focus on recovery efforts in these challenging times.

Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz, emphasized the importance of connectivity during crises, stating that the company is committed to ensuring that families and emergency responders maintain communication when it is needed most.

In tandem with Jazz's initiative, the Government of Pakistan has activated the nationwide 911 emergency helpline, known as PEHL, providing citizens with free access to emergency services throughout the country.

Earlier this year, Jazz collaborated with the National Disaster Management Authority to implement a mobile-enabled Early Warning System. The ongoing floods underscore the necessity of such technology-driven preparedness measures, which, together with emergency communication support, are crucial for safeguarding lives and livelihoods.

Jazz continues to leverage its infrastructure and partnerships to support Pakistan through natural disasters, focusing on both immediate relief and long-term resilience.
