Karachi: K-Electric's CEO, Moonis Alvi, recently held discussions with the Asian Development Bank's private sector operations team, led by Deputy Director General Cathy Marsh, to explore collaborative opportunities aimed at strengthening Karachi's power infrastructure.
According to a statement by K-Electric, the meeting centered on KE's $2.0 billion investment plan, which aims to enhance the city's power sector. A significant focus was placed on the potential role of ADB as a financer for this ambitious plan, reaffirming KE's commitment to sustainable growth and reliable power supply in Karachi.
The discussions also included updates on the ongoing Multi-Year Tariff process, with KE anticipating a decision soon. A recent determination regarding the generation tariff was highlighted as a critical advancement towards establishing a stable regulatory framework. Both parties stressed the necessity of a sustainable transmission and distribution tariff framework to ensure KE's financial stability and capacity for future investments in Karachi's energy infrastructure.
K-Electric reiterated its dedication to collaborating with key stakeholders, including development finance institutions, to enhance the power network in Karachi and support the city's economic progress.
