Peshawar: The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, has officially inaugurated a new low-cost housing project in Jalozai, District Nowshera, aimed at providing affordable living options to low-income families under the auspices of the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP).
According to Zameen.Com, the housing project covers 150 kanals and is designed to accommodate 1,320 apartments, each spanning 780 square feet. With a total projected cost of PKR 3.3 billion, this initiative targets individuals earning below PKR 50,000 per month. The affordability of the apartments is enhanced through a subsidy, with PKR 300,000 contributed by the Federal Government and an additional PKR 400,000 by the provincial government per apartment.
In its first phase, 116 apartments have been allocated, with ongoing construction for the remaining units. This project is part of a broader effort to bridge the housing affordability gap for lower and middle-income families in the region, offering them a viable path to homeownership at subsidized rates.
During his visit, CM Gandapur also inaugurated a sports complex within the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Housing Scheme. The complex, which cost PKR 17 million to complete, includes a variety of sports facilities such as a squash court, futsal ground, artificial tennis and basketball courts, and a 500-meter jogging track. Additionally, a central park spanning 42 kanals features 8 kanals dedicated to sports facilities, further enhancing the community amenities available to residents.
