Islamabad: In a crucial meeting held on August 9, Pakistani Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari convened with Chinese officials to deliberate on reforms and financial strategies for Pakistan’s energy sector.

According to Zameen.Com, the discussions highlighted the strong bilateral ties between Pakistan and China, with a particular focus on economic cooperation. Minister Aurangzeb discussed the positive trajectory of Pakistan’s economy, citing increases in foreign exchange reserves, reductions in inflation, and enhancements in tax collection. A significant topic was Pakistan’s request for China to reprofile its energy sector debt, aiming to stabilize and grow the economy through strategic reforms in state-owned enterprises and privatization initiatives.

In turn, China’s Chargé d’Affaires Shi Yuanqiang expressed China’s continued support for Pakistan’s economic initiatives. Coordination between the two countries has been intensified to ensure that the terms agreed upon during recent high-level discussions are effectively implemented, reflecting a shared commitment to deepen economic and developmental ties.
