Karachi: Pakistan's information technology exports increased by 13% year-over-year to $373 million in May 2026, despite a 12% decline from the previous month. The drop in monthly figures is attributed to fewer working days due to the Eid holidays.
According to JS Global, the cumulative IT exports for the 11 months of the fiscal year 2026 reached $4.2 billion, marking a 21% increase compared to the previous year. Furthermore, net IT exports, calculated as exports minus imports, stood at $314 million for the month, showing a 7% year-over-year rise.
The Pakistani government has projected an 18% year-over-year growth in IT exports for the fiscal year 2026, aiming for a total of $4.5 billion. As part of the 'Uraan Pakistan' national economic plan, the government has set an ambitious target of $10 billion in IT exports by the fiscal year 2029, which would require a compound annual growth rate of 27% over the next few years.
