Punjab Government Allocates PKR 50 Billion for Nine Development Projects

Lahore: In a significant boost to regional infrastructure and social programs, the Punjab government has approved nine new development schemes with a combined allocation exceeding PKR 50 billion.

According to Zameen.Com, the funding approval occurred during the 10th Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) meeting, led by Chairman P and D Board Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan. The projects span diverse sectors such as irrigation, urban development, education, energy, and transportation, cumulatively valued at PKR 50,766.848 million.

The initiatives include significant investments in infrastructure and social welfare programs: the extension of Colony Protection Bund of Marala Barrage and realignment of Tunnelwah Nullah in Sialkot District at PKR 3,162.289 million, and the Apni Chaat Apna Ghar Program valued at PKR 9,889.681 million. Other projects include the Chief Minister Punjab Schools Meal Program at PKR 6,011.228 million, an agro-forestry initiative at PKR 1,000 million, and the "Plant for Pakistan" campaign budgeted at PKR 8,000 million.

Additional funds are allocated for aquaculture shrimp farming in Punjab at PKR 8,530.490 million, the Chief Minister Roshan Gharaana Program at PKR 9,500 million, the rehabilitation of G.T Road from Quaid-e-Azam Interchange to Wagah Border in Lahore at PKR 3,282.450 million, and the construction of an underpass at Kachehri Rasulnagar Road Railway Crossing in Sheikhupura at PKR 1,390.710 million.

The meeting was also attended by key provincial representatives including Secretary P and D Board Dr. Asif Tufail, Chief Economist Dr. Nasir Iqbal Malik, and senior officials from relevant departments.
