Lahore: The Punjab government’s initiative to register farmers under the Chief Minister’s Kisan Card program has successfully enrolled 725,000 participants, with an ambitious goal to hit the 1 million mark by the end of August. The program aims to provide streamlined access to agricultural subsidies and benefits, including tractor schemes and solar conversion for tube-wells.
According to Zameen.Com, the campaign to raise awareness among farmers continues with extensive SMS outreach. The Bank of Punjab is processing data for 315,000 farmers, with Kisan Cards slated to be available at tehsil-level branches from September. Additionally, proposals to allow a 25% cash withdrawal directly from the cards are being considered to enhance liquidity for farmers. Moreover, applications for the Punjab Green Tractor Scheme and subsidies for converting tube-wells to solar power are set to launch soon. The completion of the selection process for 1,000 agricultural graduates under the Chief Minister’s Punjab Internship Programme is also noteworthy, aiming to inject new talent into the agricultural sector.
