Rupee Weakens Against Major Currencies, Dollar Nears PKR 283

Islamabad: The Pakistani Rupee continued its downward trajectory against major international currencies, with the US dollar nearing the PKR 283 mark, according to the latest data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The central bank's weighted average customer exchange rates show the greenback closing at PKR 282.64 for selling and PKR 282.21 for buying.

This signifies a further deterioration in the local currency's value.

Beyond the American currency, the Rupee also faltered against other major currencies. The British Pound reached PKR 379.82 for selling, while the Euro climbed to PKR 328.32.

The Canadian dollar also saw gains against the Rupee, reaching PKR 205.08 for selling. Similarly, the Australian dollar concluded at PKR 183.80.

The SBP data also reveals weakening against the Swiss Franc (CHF 348.42), Chinese Yuan (CNY 39.31), UAE Dirham (AED 76.95), Saudi Riyal (SAR 75.31), and Japanese Yen (JPY 1.91). These figures reflect the ongoing pressures on the Pakistani currency in the foreign exchange market.
