Karachi: Standard Chartered Pakistan unveiled the 6th Cohort of its Women in Tech (WiT) programme, a joint venture with INNOVentures Global (Pvt.) Limited, aimed at empowering women in the technology sector. The initiative, originally launched in 2019, provides financial support and mentorship to women entrepreneurs, addressing the gender disparity and promoting economic growth through innovative business solutions.
According to Standard Chartered Bank, the WiT programme aligns with the bank’s Futuremakers initiative, which seeks to combat inequality and foster economic inclusion worldwide. Mr. Rehan Shaikh, CEO of Standard Chartered Pakistan, highlighted the programme’s alignment with government efforts to support small businesses and promote financial education focused on women in technology. “Over the past five years, the programme has supported over 1300 enterprises, graduated more than 100 women founders, and facilitated seed funding for 33 ventures,” said Mr. Shaikh.
The programme’s broader aim is to create a sustainable ecosystem that enhances women’s entrepreneurial capabilities, thereby advancing their access to crucial financial resources and support networks. The launch of Cohort 6 marks a continued commitment to nurturing female entrepreneurship and driving forward the bank’s global sustainability strategy.
