Stocks Edge Lower on KSE as Trading Volume Declines

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange experienced a downturn on Monday, with both the KSE-30 and KSE-100 indices showing declines amid lower trading volumes. The KSE-30 index fell by 90.21 points, closing at 52,323.58, while the KSE-100 index decreased by 200.31 points to settle at 171,204.18.

The indices saw fluctuations throughout the day, with the KSE-30 reaching a high of 52,670.76 and a low of 52,190.63. Similarly, the KSE-100 index peaked at 172,167.63 before hitting a trough of 170,858.66. The percentage changes for the indices were recorded at -0.17% and -0.12%, respectively.

Market turnover also saw a notable decrease. The regular market recorded a turnover of 684,548,261, down from the previous session's 797,527,618. The traded value dropped significantly from 42,219,105,307 to 30,100,301,868. The market capitalization witnessed a slight decline, standing at 19,435,599,097,783 compared to the previous 19,457,155,094,568.

The Deliverable Futures Contract (DFC) market reported an increase in activity with a turnover of 507,884,500, up from 166,355,000. The traded value also rose dramatically to 41,632,937,730 from 9,492,494,970.

The Odd Lot market, though small, saw an increase in turnover, rising from 471 to 792, and an increase in traded value from 7,582 to 14,919.

These fluctuations come amid broader market conditions, with investors closely monitoring economic indicators and regional market trends. The decline in trading volume and market capitalization indicates cautious market sentiment as the year approaches its end.
