Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a modest increase in market indices on Thursday, with the KSE-100 index rising by 0.26% to close at 130,686.66 points. The KSE-30 index also saw a slight uptick, closing at 39,945.45 points, marking a 0.09% gain.
The trading session witnessed notable performances from several companies. Adamjee Insurance Company Limited (AICL) led the gainers with a 10.01% increase, closing at a price of 57.39. International Industries Limited (INIL) followed with a 9.11% rise, ending the day at 194.00. Similarly, Askari Bank Limited (AKBL) reported an 8.31% increase in its share price.
In contrast, the market saw some declines, including Bank of Punjab (BNWM), which fell by 6.26% to close at 73.49. Similarly, IBF Leasing Company Limited (IBFL) dropped by 5.25%, and Bank Al Habib Limited (BAHL) decreased by 4.14%.
The PSX's market capitalization stood at approximately Rs 15,767.14 billion, reflecting a 0.35% daily increase. This growth aligns with the year-to-date rise of 8.77% in market capitalization.
The trading session's total volume reached 899.85 million shares, amounting to a value of Rs 43.25 billion. This activity was led by Worldcall Telecom Limited (WTL), whose 49.45 million shares were traded, followed by Image Pakistan Limited with 36.65 million shares.
In the broader regional market context, performances varied. The Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index (SSEA) in China saw a slight increase of 0.2%, while India's BSE Sensex (BSESN) experienced a 0.2% decline. Other regional markets showed mixed results.
