Sindh Food Authority Accelerates Licensing for KATI-Recommended Companies

Karachi, Director General of Sindh Food Authority, Agha Fakhar Hussain, announced that immediate licenses will be issued for companies and their products promoted by the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI). This initiative aims to streamline regulatory processes and boost local industry standards.

According to Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, the licensing process, which is now expedited for KATI-recommended firms, follows recent collaborations with commercial and halal labs internationally, enhancing the global market presence of Pakistani products. Agha Fakhar Hussain highlighted the establishment of modern laboratories in partnership with eight universities, including Karachi University, to facilitate high-standard food testing and certifications. This effort coincides with the training of over 8,000 food handlers in six months, emphasizing the shift from viewing them as mere employees to recognizing them as crucial food handlers.

The meeting with industrialists also revealed a 50% discount on world-standard lab tests, a move welcomed by KATI President Johar Kandahari. He praised the Sindh Food Authority’s swift actions under Agha Fakhar Hussain’s leadership, noting the significant progress made in a short time. Additionally, the recent measures are set to support local businesses by reducing costs and simplifying product registration processes, fostering an environment where local industries can thrive and compete internationally.
